1. So why call this site Gingerbeer?

From our London roots, Gingerbeer is cockney rhyming slang for 'queer'. We also like drinking beer with ginger-haired people.

2. How do I list my website, service or event on Gingerbeer?

We have a comprehensive Listings section, so check first to see whether your website is already listed. If not, then please use the Listings or Events submission form to tell us about your organisation, service or website and we will consider adding it. If you're not sure which to use, see qustion 3 below.

3. What's the difference between a listing and an event?

Events tend to happen once, or irregularly (film festivals, pride, tournaments etc) where as listings happen with regularity (daily, weekly, monthly). There are also listings that are just like directory entries and don't 'happen' at all (websites, professional services, addresses).

4. I'm visiting London/Brighton/Manchester, where can we stay and where's good to go out?

You've come to the right place for those sort of questions. Go into the Listings area of Gingerbeer and use the Travel & Accommodation section to find out great places to stay. There are reviews of many lesbian bars and clubs in the Bars & Clubs section that is definitely worth a look. You can also check the Calendar to see if there is anything special happening during the time you will be on your travels.

5. I'm looking for love...I would like to make more friends...

Try our Messageboards and chat room to get chatting away with hundreds of like-minded lesbians. Go to Lez Talk where you can choose live chat or forum style interaction.

6. How do I advertise my event/business/services on your fantastic site?

All of Gingerbeer's events and listings are free so look at question 2 above! However, with over 100,000 unique visitors each month we're definitely the place to take out paid advertising. You can find advertising information on our advertising page.

7. I would like to get involved in Gingerbeer. How can I offer you my services?

We'd love to hear from you. We are looking for volunteers to write reviews and articles, to take photos, organise events, assist with the ongoing management and development of the website and get involved in our growing marketing and PR presence. Use the Contact form to tell us how you'd like to join our fantastic team of volunteers and Contributors.

Again, please use the Contact form to send us any corrections, and we will endeavour to update them as soon as we can.

9. Why do I have to provide my email address?

For membership, it's our way of identifying each individual.  Check our Privacy Policy to learn our policies on personal data.  For event submissions it's important that we know who to contact if there is a problem with the event.  We won't publish the email address unless you ask us to.
